BIOGRAPHy

For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed drawing and making art. I have always been a doodler, filling empty pages with random designs and pictures. I became serious about being an artist in High School. I ended up majoring in Studio Art at Mars Hill College, located about 15 miles north of Asheville, North Carolina. After two years, I dropped out to study Engineering Graphics, having wanted to be able to support myself in the uncertain financial climate of the late 70’s.

I enjoyed a career in drafting and design for 25 years. When the Pandemic hit, I turned to drawing and painting again. It was a way to pass time, and was very therapeutic. Early this year, I tried pastels for the first in at least 30 years. It is now my favorite medium! I have been doing pastel paintings of pets for family and friends. My two cats have been favorite subjects. Perhaps because of my background in drafting, I am drawn to realism. I look forward learning from other artists and developing my technique.
